Bras are the bane of my existence, I am a 40DD/DDD, the best part of my day is getting home and taking my bra off. But, when I do wear it I want to make sure I look my best.
When your bra is the perfect fit you will look sexy and feel confident. Finding the right bra in the perfect size can seem like a daunting task. In reality it isn’t all that difficult to find the best one to make you look amazing.
Measuring for your bra is super easy, by following these easy steps you can know your size in a matter of minutes.
Bra Sizing the Right Way
When you are measuring for your bra size, always use a cloth measuring tape, these can be found at your local department store.
Step 1. Measure around your underbust, this number will be your band size (or a number close to it, for example, if your number is 37 you will want to try both 36 and 38 band bras).
Step 2. While wearing a bra measure around the widest part of your chest.
Step 3. To calculate your cup size find the difference between your 2 measurements. And use the chart below to figure out your cup size.
A Difference of:
1/2-1″ will be an A cup
2″ will be a B cup
3″ will be a C cup
4″ will b a D cup
5″ will be a DD cup
Tips and Tricks to make Your Bra Fit Perfectly
The Bend and Scoop: Once you have your bra on, the first thing you want to do is bend over and scoop your boobs into the cups so they fall in naturally. By doing this, your bra will fit more naturally and will feel much more comfortable.
Hooking the Band: To make your bra last longer with regular use always hook it at the largest band size and make sure it is a perfect fit when hooked there. As you wear your it, the band will stretch out. So, by hooking it there, you have room to move the hooks in and viola! you have a longer lasting bra!
Shortening the Shoulder Straps: The shoulder straps should not be tightened to the point that your shoulders have dips where the straps are, in the long run this will cause more back and shoulder pain than normal. The shoulder straps also should not be too loose, they shouldn’t fall off your shoulders, that’s not sexy and it doesn’t offer your boobs any support.
Band Size: If your band is too big it will pull up in the back and if it is too small your skin will plump around it, your band should be smooth and even with your skin.
Cup Size: If your boobs are cupcaking over the front or the sides of your bra, your cup is too small. If your bra isn’t offering you any support and the fabric is loose, your cups are too big. Again, the transition from cup to skin should look smooth and even.
I actually just found my perfect bra the other day. I ended up going down a band size and up a cup size, the difference was noticeable and feels amazing, no more cupcake top or too tight straps! I still rush to take my bra off everyday, but now if I have a long day and night ahead of me I don’t dread it the way I used to. Happy Shopping!
